Spinnin’ Records’ hot new prodigy Mike Williams is back with another single. “Another Night” sees the talented young producer switch things up with vocalist Matluck, shifting towards a more sophisticated future house style that we haven’t heard from him until now. And it’s one of our favorites yet.
As for the music video, if you were expecting something as edgy as the producer’s last video, then I’m afraid you’ll be just a little bit disappointed. The video kicks off with a beautiful shot of cascading waterfalls before we follow a girl as she embarks on a journey from waterfall to Nordic beach to snow-capped mountains, seemingly in search of something (or somebody) before she returns home. Here we’re graced with some risque shots of the girl bathing before the object of her desire finally makes its way back home to her.
Spinnin’ Records has long been touted as EDM’s home of bigroom house, but in recent years they’ve really been pushing the envelope in terms of finding new sounds and styles that fit the label’s new creative direction. Now, they’ve made perhaps their boldest signing yet with their first ever K-Pop artist Hyolyn from the all-girl group Sistar.
Hyolyn not only marks the label’s first ever K-Pop artist on the label, but according to her management, marks the label’s first ever Asian signing as well. In the past, Hyolyn has worked with Far East Movement and DJ Soda,so she does have a bit of experience working with dance music in the past.
The Pegboard Nerds have been hard at work over the last year. On the heels of the successful “Nerds by Nature” tour and a Billboard-charting EP, the duo is back at it again with yet another tour and a fresh new single.
Announced Saturday, the “Revenge of the Nerds” tour will take the duo to 25 different cities across North America, starting in Edmonton, AB and finishing in Virginia Beach. If the trailer is giving anything away, “Revenge of the Nerds” is looking to be an epic tour filled with massive energy and tons of brand new music. Tickets are available now at PegboardNerds.com. Check out the trailer below:
Additionally, the Pegboard Nerds recently released their Spinnin’ Records debut “Voodoo” in collaboration with the up-and-coming electro house producer & Tiësto protegeé Tony Junior. “Voodoo” is a very different sound for both the Nerds and Tony Junior, so make sure to listen with that expectation. The track combines Junior’s brand of house with the Pegboard Nerds’ sugary-sweet undertones for a truly one-of-a-kind result. Listen to “Voodoo” and buy the track below:
We never thought we’d see the day, but Maarten Vorwerk just released a new original on Spinnin’ Records with Mazare and Matthew Steeper entitled “You’re The One.”
Featuring swelling synths and powerful vocals from Steeper and some unnamed female vocalist, “You’re The One” is strangely addicting. It follows closely along with the pop/EDM formula, with vocals resembling those of All-American Rejects or Plain White T’s, giving it an extremely wide range to appeal to all fans.
For this week’s flashback Friday, we are taken back to the end of an era. It’s coming up on almost two years since the disbandment of Swedish House Mafia and most of us have yet to move on from the transition. Yes, Axwell / Ingrosso are great and Steve Angello is also doing well, but I can’t help but feel a void that their individual acts cannot fill.
The reality of the situation is that for those who entered the EDM scene circa 2009-2011, Swedish House Mafia most likely played a vital role in their introduction and immersion in the EDM culture. With their departure, we are older and wiser and our tastes have changed and evolved; yet, as we look back on what it was like just a few years ago, we can’t help but get a good kick in the nostalgia feels.
Get ready for the trillest track yet. The infamous Borgeous teamed up with Whookid, along with two of rap’s biggest stars, Waka Flocka Flame and Wiz Khalifa, for an absolute monster of a song, “Toast“. Borgeous has a knack for creating the most electrifying hits that simply turn dance floors into pandemonium. This latest track is no exception as Waka and Wiz both provide an incredible presence to this banger, making you just want to grab a drink and turn up with the crew. I couldn’t think of a better song to kick this weekend off, be sure to listen below and grab the free download as well!
Producers are always looking for things to learn. The internet is a great source for tips, but when a producer sits down to do a formal tutorial, you’re sure to get more from it than from your average lifeless Youtube video. One company, CREATIVELIVE, is offering a free tutorial from Ed Solo, who has worked on tracks with Krafty Kuts, DJ Fresh, as well as made sample packs for Bass Boutique and Loopmasters.
The free live tutorial will take place November 12th through the 13th between 9AM and 4PM PST. All you need to do is RSVP and be on the computer when the session is underway. For those producers who would like to partake you can reserve your spot through the following link. The focus will be on producing music with Logic Pro. Don’t worry if you don’t use that software, because CREATIVELIVE will offer more tutorials in the future that focus upon other DAWs. If you follow the RSVP link you will find the schedule with the list of other sessions.

For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we take it back to the time Krewella absolutely destroyed a super bowl party. Lucky patrons at a bar in New York City were treated to a surprise performance from Krewella courtesy of Bud Light at the end of halftime during the Super Bowl this year.
