Colorado Considers Freeing Those Convicted on Marijuana Charges

Colorado is a magical place if you have a proclivity for smoking weed. In 2012, the state voted to legalize recreational marijuana use, and last November, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper issued pardons to seven people convicted of marijuana possession.

He’s now looking to take an even more proactive stance on the issue by exploring the idea of releasing almost 40 prisoners who have been sentenced under nonviolent marijuana charges. Not only is the desire to lessen the convictions a policy statement from Hickenlooper’s administration, but it’s also a criticism of Colorado’s overcrowded prisons. The governor is hoping his action will incite others to pursue pardons for their own marijuana-connected crimes.

“Right now, we have not enough room left in our prisons. So if what these people are serving serious time for wasn’t violent — is no longer illegal — maybe we should be looking at [whether] it safe to release them,” Hickenlooper told The Denver Post.

The governor’s administration is currently reviewing cases where inmates have only been sentenced for possessing or selling marijuana and are looking into their behavior in prison. Hickenlooper publicly endorsed the plan in an interview with the business and technology streaming channel Cheddar.

Last year, Colorado signed into law a statute that permits offenders to appeal the district court to seal criminal records for misdemeanors for possession or use, if their charges wouldn’t have been a crime after 2012.

Now that recreational marijuana is legal in California, San Francisco and San Diego declared that thousands of people with misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession will have their criminal records wiped.

Reggie Bush Retired From Football on Live TV: ‘I’m Done’

Former Heisman Trophy winner and Super Bowl-winning running back Reggie Bush has formally retired from the NFL after an 11-year career split between New Orleans, Miami, Detroit, San Francisco and Buffalo.

“I’m done,” Bush said during an appearance on NFL Network’s NFL Total Access Friday. “It’s not breaking news. I’ve been saying it. I said it all season long, I said, ‘Listen, if I don’t play this year, I’m going to retire.’ Because I’m not going to spend a whole year off, come back, 33 years old, trying to get back in the league. Listen, once you get to a certain age as a running back, they just start to slowly weed you out.”

Bush rose to prominence in high school, rushing for 2,200 yards and while scoring 34 touchdowns as a junior at Helix High in San Diego. He’d continue to make various highlight reels as a senior before amassing 6,541 all-purpose yards en route to bringing two national championships to USC in 2003 and 2004. Bush also won the Heisman Trophy in 2005 but relinquished the honor in 2010 after being retroactively ruled ineligible for the 2005 season for NCAA rules violations.

In the NFL, Bush helped lead the New Orleans Saints to a win during Super Bowl XLIV in 2010. He notched two 1,000-yard seasons in his career—gaining 1,086 yards with Miami in 2011 and 1,006 yards with the Detroit Lions in 2013.

Multiple injuries took their toll during a pro career that never quite saw Bush reach the insane heights he did in high school and college. Things were never quite the same after Bush slipped on a patch of concrete during a 2015 game against the then-St. Louis Rams.

Bush took on a reserve role with the Buffalo Bills during the 2016 season, and it appears he now has his sights set on the eSports world.

“Now I’m working for Next VR so we do some of the post-game analysis and virtual reality,” Bush told ESPN’s Michael Rothstein in October. “Two weeks ago we had our first game, the Green Bay at Minnesota game, and just seeing some of the guys on the field, it was definitely a little different, you know, being on the other side.”

Did XXXTentacion Announce a Release Date for His Debut Album?

XXXTentacion just announced a release date for an album called 17 via Instagram. It's set to drop on Aug. 25, the same day as Action Bronson's Blue Chips 7000.

In the same post, he described the project as “absolutely amazing,” saying that it’s “the first time I’ve put my all into a project.” But he also hinted that this album might not sound like his past body of work. He added that “if you listen to me to get hype or to not think, don’t buy this album, this one is for the depression, the depressed ones, the lost ones.”

A source from the rapper’s label, EMPIRE, says, “EMPIRE will be here to support XXXTentacion with the release when he decides to want to drop it.” That means X could withhold the album for whatever reason, as release dates almost always get pushed back.

The announcement comes after the rapper announced (also on Instagram) that he was “going to disappear for a little while” and also after he unexpectedly postponed The Revenge Tour for a second time. Both incidents came after a turbulent couple of weeks that had XXXTentacion caught in a violent beef with San Diego rapper Rob Stone, accidentally thrown into a barricade instead of a crowd by his own security, and allegedly punching a fan at a concert.

XXXTentacion has been known to unexpectedly drop new projects: in May of this year, the Florida rapper released Revenge, a short collection of eight of his newest songs at the time, including “Look At Me!” and the Diplo-produced “Looking for a Star.”

Rob Stone Addresses XXXTentacion Situation: ‘It’s Only Going to Get Worse’

Most people are still struggling with how to pronounce XXXTentacion's name, let alone decipher the beef between he and Rob Stone. But after XXX got knocked out at a San Diego show, allegations have been flying about the aftermath of the brawl that took place at his show.

A concertgoer was stabbed in the ruckus following the on-stage sucker punch, and during an interview with TMZ last Thursday, XXX claimed the victim in question was his attacker, though local police disputed that premise. Rumors continued to swirl about the stabbing victim and any possible affiliation with Stone, and eventually the San Diego native saw fit to address the claims himself.

“I'm alive and well,” he said. “I didn't get stabbed, I didn't get stabbed, OK, I'm alive and well, just for all the people that was concerned about me getting stabbed. All my homies is alive and well, I don't know what the fuck that's about. But I feel bad for the person that did get stabbed.”

After establishing that the stabbing victim was not affiliated with him, Stone continued on, and seemed to send a direct message to XXX despite taking steps to make it sound like it was directed at a broader group of people.

“This shit is just getting crazy, and it's only going to get worse,” he said. “You can not sit and talk shit about people, or talk shit to people, y'all can't do that shit. I'm talking to everybody in the world right now, I'm not talking to a specific person. You can not sit and talk shit to motherfuckers and go to their city and not expect somebody in the city to feel some type of way about that.”

It's not immediately clear when or where the video emerged from; there's no trace of it on Stone's social feeds, but addressing the stabbing rumors in particular makes it appear as though it is from some point this past weekend, following a new diss track from Stone aimed at XXX.

As much as the on-stage knockout made for great meme fodder, let's hope things don't continue to escalate from here. It's one thing to trade shots on wax and on social media, but once someone resorts to physical violence, it's all downhill from there.

You can watch the full video below, and judge how serious the threat could be for yourself.

North Carolina Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Having Sex with 3 High Schoolers

A North Carolina teacher was arrested and charged with sexual assault, after an investigation reportedly revealed sexual relationships with at least three of her male students.

Erin McAuliffe, a 25-year-old teacher at Rocky Mount Prep, has been under investigation since May 5, when local police were informed by administrators at the school of possible inappropriate conduct. Detectives spoke with numerous faculty members and students at the school, and eventually concluded McAuliffe had sexual contact with three different male students off-campus, aged 16, 17, and 17 years old respectively.

According to local news reports, McAuliffe was fired the day a police report was filed by the school's president in early May. Parents and former students at the school alike expressed their concern that someone in a position of authority was allegedly abusing that stature.

“It's very shocking and appalling that a person would do that with a student,” said Dayvon Steele, a recent Rocky Mount grad. “The teacher student-relationship is very intimate in itself, but it's not meant to be abused in that sort of way.”

McCauliffe was charged with three counts of sexual activity with a student, and one count of indecent liberties with a minor. The former teacher was placed in Carteret County jail on $20,000 bond on Thursday, and court records show she posted bond Friday afternoon.

Her LinkedIn page shows this was McAuliffe's first year as a teacher, having spent her previous years as a data analyst in San Diego and as a sales rep at a Chevy dealership in Rocky Mount.

Inside the Beef That Lead to XXXTentacion Getting Knocked Out

During the San Diego stop on his Revenge Tour, 19-year-old Florida-based rapper XXXTentacion got knocked out mid-song while performing at The Observatory. The assailant, who's identity has not been confirmed, is said to be an associate of Rob Stone, a 22-year-old rapper from San Diego who made some noise with a song “Chill Bill” but has been connected to XXXTentacion through a beef that's been stirring since April of this year.

With XXXTentacion's name being in the news circuit for most of 2017, and a flurry of theories regarding what happened in this altercation (which someone who may or may not have been the person who attacked XXXTentacion being stabbed), the question on everyone's lips is “what the hell happened?”

Let's walk back to the beginning of the beef, which reportedly features everything from grabbing mics, more violent attacks, and a rapper named Ski Mask The Slump God. Here's a look at Rob Stone and XXXTentacion's beef.

April 9, 2017: Ski Mask the Slump God escorted off stage during Rob Stone performance

To understand how XXXTentacion and Rob Stone started beefing, you have to understand Stone's beef with Ski Mask the Slump God, another Florida-based rapper who is down with XXXTentacion. According to reports, Ski Mask was escorted off the stage at a show at The Observatory on a San Diego date for Desiigner's Outlet Tour.

As the story goes, Ski Mask tried getting on the mic as Rob Stone was getting on stage to start his performance. Ski Mask got frustrated over the ordeal and decided to not leave the stage. Footage shows that he ended up getting walked off the stage by a number of unidentified men.

When word got to XXXTentacion about what happened at the show to Ski Mask, he took to Twitter to vent. The tweet, which has since been deleted, said, “Let them know whoever the fuck that is getting fucked in they mouth when I go on tour for putting their peasant hands on my brother.” Rob Stone wasn't here for it, and let it be known in his own tweet.

To which Ski Mask sent his own tweet, insinuating that there was more to the growing friction between himself and Rob Stone.

April 10, 2017: Ski Mask gets jumped

The very next night on Desiigner's Outlet Tour found Ski Mask and Rob Stone getting into it at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. At the start of Ski Mask the Slump God's set, a pair of individuals are jumped him from behind, causing the three of them to fall into the crowd. Ski Mask is said to have then jumped back on stage, and was chased by a whole squad of people.

April 11, 2017: Two sides of the same story

In two separate conversations with XXL, both Rob and Ski Mask laid out their sides of what happened in Los Angeles. Stone likened Ski Mask's set in L.A. to being the “third strike” of disrespect. Strike one was said to have been an incident where Ski Mask ran out during Rob's set in Seattle to interact with fans mid-song. Stone says, “The nigga was ruining my spot. So that was the first strike and I told the nigga, ‘Don’t do that. If you’re gonna run on my set, come on ‘Chill Bill’ at the end.’ So he was like, ‘Aight, cool’ and it was straight.” Stone said strike two was at the San Diego show. According to him, Ski Mask's lateness forced set times to be pushed back, with Ski Mask being told he's go on at 9 p.m. Around 9:25, Stone says Ski Mask finally showed up, and took to the stage as Rob Stone was about to go on. When Stone's DJ wouldn't hand Ski Mask the mic, he got aggy and stood his ground.

Stone said that after the back-and-forth with XXXTentacion and Ski Mask on Twitter, as well as seeing XXX on Instagram Live “talking about Ski Mask gonna slap the shit outta me,” Stone decided he'd approach Ski Mask at the L.A. show, but Ski Mask showed up and hopped right on stage. “I wasn’t even trying to run onstage and do bro like that. I was supposed to get at bro behind the scenes, but he wanna run onstage and not holla at me like a real nigga, so I run onstage and take the mic from blood and then we beat his ass from the stage to the street. And that’s how it goes. And I left his ass out in the street with his ass out and his underwear. And that’s exactly what happened, from beginning to end.”

Ski Mask saw things differently, saying that AEG (who was putting on the Outlet Tour) was trying to get Rob Stone off of the tour. “Statistically, I shouldn’t even perform before him. Looking at numbers, I shouldn’t have to perform before him because it doesn’t make sense. My numbers are way higher than his in general. Then performance wise, this nigga is ass. He doesn’t do good in general in performance. So they were trying to throw him off [the tour] and he was angry as fuck.” Ski Mask also stated that the San Diego date was supposed to be his last date on the tour, but he says he might not have been getting paid.

Now, even though he says he wasn't going to perform if he wasn't going to get paid, he did indicate that he would be telling his fans “'on the mic that I'm not performing.' Because they're gonna think I didn't even pull up and they're gonna be mad.” According to Ski Mask, that's when the footage starts, where he's on the stage not being given a mic, but not wanting to get off the stage.

In the case of the Los Angeles tour date, Ski Mask said he only went there because he “didn't want to seem pussy,” indicating that he “didn’t think, even if he was gonna jump me, he was gonna do it like that, by jumping me on the stage and not even give me the heads up that he’s about to jump me or wait until I’m done performing.” As you can see in the above video, that wasn't the case. Ski Mask also alleges that around eight people attacked him, and at some point, knives were drawn and his friend was stabbed.

They both indicated to XXL that they were no longer a part of Desiigner's Outlet Tour.

May 1, 2017: Rob Stone replaced by Ski Mask the Slump God at Rolling Loud Festival

After their very public scuffles on the Outlet Tour, Ski Mask and Rob Stone would spend time clapping back and forth at each other, but the next real issue was Stone's claims that he was removed from the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami. According to a tweet of his on May 1, Stone says he was paid in full in advance “not to show up at the festival,” saying that “the promoter is their boy.”

The “their” is in reference to XXXTentacion and Ski Mask the Slump God; XXX was already on the bill, and its said that Ski Mask ended up taking Rob Stone's slot. Stone later spoke out on the situation, reiterating that he was paid not to go “for 'safety & security,'” and spoke on how his issues with XXXTentacion was the cause of him being let go.

June 7, 2017: XXXTentacion gets suckerpunched

It's hard to tell if XXXTentacion was worrying about any flack from his shared beef with Rob Stone when hitting The Observatory during his Revenge Tour, but knowing what has gone down between Ski Mask and Rob Stone, it's hard to be surprised. During his set, someone ran onstage and knocked XXX out with a blow. The individual was immediately bumrushed by security, with a major scuffle ensuing both on stage and behind-the-scenes.

It appears that many in the building started screaming “Fuck Rob Stone.” After the incident, when XXX came to, he hit Twitter to not only say he was set up, but to throw a threat for the next time someone attacks him.

Fox 5 San Diego reports that at some point during the incident on stage, a 19-year-old was stabbed. They also indicated that, at the time, there were no reported arrests.

At the time of this writing, there's been no comment on social media from Rob Stone, though the Slump God did share a couple of tweets.

Sadly, this doesn't seem like it's going to be over any time soon. Maybe Rolling Loud had the right idea; the heat between these factions is too great to have them near each other. If someone doesn't step up to mediate the situation, this could go from bad to worse very quickly.

XXXTentacion Attacked While Onstage in San Diego

On Wednesday night, XXXTentacion was performing at The Observatory North Park in San Diego. During his set, someone came up from the audience and attacked him, as you can see in the video above. A brawl broke out immediately afterwards, and the rapper had to be carried offstage. You can see the whole thing below.

Not long after the incident, XXXTentacion was tweeting, responding to a now-deleted tweet by saying, “LOL YOU SHOULD SEE THE OTHER GUY.”

XXXTentacion later blamed the incident on the security at the show and the venue.

Additionally, he addressed a stabbing that reportedly took place during the fight that broke out after the attack. Fox 5 in San Diego is reporting that one person was stabbed. That person has not been identified, but in another now-deleted tweet, XXXTentacion wrote, “several stab wounds, he in critical condition he might be dead in a few hours…'JUST SAYIN'.”

Many people both inside the venue and who viewed video footage seemed to think that the person who attacked XXXTentacion was San Diego rapper Rob Stone. The crowd began chanting “Fuck Rob Stone,” and many Twitter users were sure he was the culprit.

Stone and XXXTentacion have had tension for a while—tension that exploded when Stone got into a fight with XXXTentacion's pal Ski Mask the Slump God during a show in Los Angeles in April. In the aftermath, XXXTentacion said he would “slap the fuck out of” Stone for “putting [his] peasant hands on my brother.”

XXXTentacion has also had beef with Drake in the past, and it seems Drake may have weighed in on XXXTentacion's most recent situation, too. He was apparently caught liking several Instagram comments about Wednesday's attack:

During an earlier show on XXXTentacion's current The Revenge Tour, opener Wifisfuneral was attacked, though that incident was unrelated.

JOYRYDE Releases His Latest Bass House Heater, “I Ware House”

If you’ve seen JOYRYDE recently at all, you’ve heard this one. It’s one of the hardest tracks in his sets now, and we’re damn happy about it. Entitled “I Ware House,” this one is an homage to the warhouse rave movement of the early ’90s.

Though it still sounds modern in its execution, a lot of the rhythms and samples – and absolutely the meaning behind the track – come from ’90s house. And after the house section, JOYRYDE even goes hard trap in what is definitely one of the most surprising drops of the year so far. Even after that, there’s another dope drop we guarantee you won’t see coming.

i hope u all enjoy my new track.. i shot a video in a warehosue in downtown LA 2 days after i arrived to LA over a year ago i filmed in an old warehouse downtown but the footage came out unusable. i always felt like i owed it to that place to finish the job. so we went back down there and re shot these scenes. didnt want to shoot a professional dance routine or choreography, i wanted to shoot how normal people feel and move.. i wanted it to be natural.. music i hope you like my new video and track.
