Rick Ross Reportedly Returns Home From Hospital

Rick Ross has reportedly returned home after being hospitalized last week, according to TMZ. The rapper was taken to a Miami area hospital after someone called 911 and reported that he was unresponsive and “slobbing at the mouth” at 3 a.m. on Thursday morning. Four days after being hospitalized, Ross returned home in the early hours on Monday morning. He is reportedly receiving further treatment from the comfort of his home.

TMZ sources previously said the rapper was dealing with respiratory issues, but later reported that the issue turned out to be heart-related. The rapper was reportedly put into the ICU and attached to an ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), a device used for assisting with respiratory and heart functions. This news feled speculation that the rapper was on life support, a claim that a couple members of Maybach Music Group disputed. MMG associate Fat Trel shared an Instagram post Saturday saying Ross was “good.” Rockie Fresh also indicated that the TMZ report was inaccurate in a tweet.

The rapper has a history of health problems and appeared on Dr. Oz to talk about the back-to-back seizures he suffered while flying in 2011. “I went hard, you know,” he said. “It didn't seem as bad to me because the majority of the time I would be putting in work. The other time I would be partying, and the rest of the time it kind of blended. And that went on for years and years and years. I just developed those certain patterns.”

Rick Ross Reportedly on a Form of Life Support After Being Found Unresponsive (UPDATE)

UPDATED 7:00 p.m. ET: TMZ is reporting that Rick Ross has been hooked up to a machine called ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) that's keeping him alive in a Miami area hospital's cardio unit after he was initially found unresponsive. Early indications point towards a heart attack, although at this time that's unconfirmed. His heart and lungs have been taken over by the machine he's hooked up to, meaning he's currently on life support.

The report has since been disputed by Maybach Music Group associate Fat Trel, who took to Instagram to say he spoke with Rick Ross. According to Trel, Ross is “good” and “not on 'life support.'”

MMG's own Rockie Fresh also intimated TMZ's report was inaccurate. “TMZ gassin,” he wrote on Twitter.

See below for original story.

Rick Ross is reportedly in the hospital for respiratory treatment related to possible pneumonia.

A 911 call was placed by someone at Ross' Miami-area residence around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, according to TMZ. Police sources claim that the “person in distress,” reportedly Ross, became “combative” following a period of heavy breathing. A Ross source added that the issue is “heart-related,” but an unnamed family member has denied the hospitalization entirely. Reps for Ross did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.

Last year, Ross appeared on Dr. Oz amid his Rather You Than Me promo tour and discussed the back-to-back seizures he suffered while flying in 2011. “I went hard, you know,” he said. “It didn't seem as bad to me because the majority of the time I would be putting in work. The other time I would be partying, and the rest of the time it kind of blended. And that went on for years and years and years. I just developed those certain patterns.”

Ross dropped off the video for his T-Pain and Kodak Black collab “Florida Boy” last month.

Port of Miami 2: Born to Kill, according to comments Ross gave to Tim Westwood in November, is set to be released this year. “I'm digging deep into these joints, these records, these collaborations,” Ross said at the time. “I'm just going all out. It's the 10th one.” DJ Khaled has been involved with the sessions in some capacity. “Port of Miami 2 in the works,” he told fans last August.

Rockie Fresh Heads Back To Chicago For ‘God Is Great’ Video

In the final video from MMG‘s triple video release, Rockie Fresh goes back to his native Chicago via a silver Rolls Royce Phantom, cruising to Windy City landmarks with his crew in tow while offering up his lyrical tithes to the man upstairs for the success he’s gained since signing on the dotted line with Ross. For the savvy viewer, there’s even a quick cameo by fellow Chicagoan and hip-hop newcomer, Chance the Rapper.

Wale Joined By Rick Ross And Lupe Fiasco In ‘Poor Decisions’ Video

By Maurice Bobb

Good things come in threes, especially if you’re a fan of Rick RossMaybach Music Group. Rozay dropped three visual jewels from his collective’s upcoming compilation LP, Self Made, Vol. 3, throughout the course of the day Tuesday (June 4), leading off with Wale’s “Poor Decisions,” and following with his own “Oil Money Gang” before serving up Rockie Fresh’s “God is Great” for an encore.

“It’s something it’s really super dope, but it’s only a way you can present it — in a form like this,” Rozay told MTV News on Monday (June 3) about SMV3, due August 6. “It’s all about the collaboration and the presentation.”

The DRE Films-directed clip for Wale’s “Poor Decisions” starts off with a contemplative Rozay spitting the line “rich ni—as making poor decisions” in an nondescript urban area, followed by Lupe Fiasco dropping verses in similarly desolate and dismal environs. The Gifted MC, however, gets to tour a sneaker spot while admonishing people’s materialism before flashing to a dysfunctional family in the park and Lupe’s lyrical flip of Ross chorus, “poor ni—as making rich decisions.”

MMG Drops ‘God Is Great’ And ‘Poor Decisions’ From Self Made, Vol. 3 LP

By Maurice Bobb

MMG season has returned. After news broke Monday (June 3) that Rick Ross’ crew’s compilation album, Self Made, Vol. 3, would be released on August 6, fans got a double dose of new music from the upcoming LP.

The first song out of the collective’s chamber was Rockie Fresh’s “God is Great.” The Boi-1da-produced track finds the young Chicagoan giving thanks to man upstairs for his many blessings, which include his watch, chain and bevy of women.

“See the watch, see the chain and know that God is great/ Even when these ni–as hate, God is great,” Fresh raps, before continuing with “Aw, man, look at me, I’m becoming everything I wish I be/I got b-tches, I got cake, wake up every day and I say God is great.”

MMG reloaded the clip and hit fans with another sonic shot, “Poor Decisions,” by Wale, featuring Rozay and Lupe Fiasco. The Jake One-produced salvo takes aim at members of the hip-hop community spending their money furiously on whips and jewels instead of building wealth or prepping for the future, backed by Ross’ cautionary chorus, “Rich ni—as making poor decisions.”

As the Mastermind MC weaves his signature coke boy tales, Lupe and Wale hammer home messages with a more neo-political focus, with the Food & Liquor rapper flipping Ross’ original refrain for a more suitable one.

“Poor ni—as making rich decisions,” he raps, hammering home the idea that, realistically, most fans’ “POV is poverty,” but they “still gon get ‘em.” Poor decisions indeed.

Those two songs, combined with Wale’s “Bad (remix),” featuring Rihanna, officially makes today MMG Monday.

Rick Ross & MMG Announce Self Made Vol. 3 Release Date

It was only a matter of time before Rick Ross and his MMG camp confirmed that the third installation of their Self Made series was coming this summer. As of now, Self Made Vol. 3 is set for release on August 6. Aside from the MMG roster (Wale, Omarion, Meek Mill, Rockie Fresh, Gunplay, Stalley) plenty of additional features are expected.
