Here’s What Snapchat’s CEO Loves To Listen To

It’s fairly well-known that Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snap Inc., values his privacy incredibly highly. He doesn’t have a public Facebook account, nor does he regularly tweet, like the majority of top execs at tech companies. He does, however, regularly share his current music tastes on Hype Machine.

“Share” might be a bit of a strong word, considering the site just aggregates and keeps track of his listening habits on a public profile. But for how private he is everywhere else, he might as well be announcing, “Hey! Look at this!”

Spiegel is a huge fan of dance and pop; he just played the Slander & B-Sides remix of “Let Me Love You” by DJ Snake & Justin Bieber in the last hour, and it’s his 11th time listening to it, no less.

He’s also been listening to “Love Is Alive” by Louis the Child and Elohim, as well as “Phones Down” by Lost Kings, “White Lies” by Odesza, and “Let You Get Away” by Shaun Frank feat Ashe.

His current ‘obsession’ is “Yea, Babe, No Way” by LANY, which he’s played an astounding 48 times.

You can peruse Spiegel’s full listening history on his Hype Machine account.

Your EDM Month In Music – January 2017

Welcome to the first Month In Music for 2017! As I’m sure you all know, this month has been filled with two long-anticipated releases from the biggest names in dance music. S0 big in fact that they’re even taking over the pop game; of course it’s none other than The Chainsmokers and Martin Garrix with “Paris” and “Scared To Be Lonely,” respectively.

The most prominent feature in this month’s playlist is a surprise collaboration. It all started when Major Lazer, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Nicki Minaj all joined forces for “Run Up.” Following that, the brand new Eric Nam, Gallant, and Tablo single “Cave Me In” comes to mind as does “Warrior,” “All Nite” and, “Hey Baby,” with nine artists credited over those three singles.

Plenty of our favorite up-and-coming artists also took the time to drop hot new tracks whether they be remixes of singles. Vanic unleashed his follow-up to “Samurai” with “Too Soon,” while Throttle dropped a hot new remix to “Don’t Leave.” Lost Kings also got involved with a brand new single, as did DROELOE, Saint WKND, and Sonny Alven.

There’s a whole lot more to digest, so be sure to find yourself some free time (one hour and fifty-seven minutes to be precise), kick back, and relax to our brand new Month In Music playlist!

Lost Kings Release New Song With Tinashe, “Quit You”

Lost Kings have been rocketing in popularity over the past year; and after signing to Disruptor Records, the home of The Chainsmokers and Vanic, you can expect their rise to hit an absolute fever pitch in 2017.

Their first single of the new year is a radio-ready single titled “Quit You,” with featured vocals from none other than Tinashe. The new single doesn’t have a typical drop, instead opting to really follow the verse-chorus-verse structure of a typical pop song.

Lost Kings’ foray into pop music aligns well with many other producers this year, and it brings up wider questions of crossover appeal in EDM and mainstream radio music. But that’s a discussion for another time.

This isn’t the first time Tinashe has worked in the EDM sphere, having previously released a collab with Marshmello and Far East Movement, and it won’t be the last (Jauz x Diplo x Tinashe on deck).
