Tuesday night was historic because The Diplomats reunited again at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York for Spotify’s RapCaviar Live showcase. The Dips weren’t alone as they shared the stage with ASAP Mob and Highbridge the Label, featuring artists A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Don Q. Building off the momentum of their Heatmakerz-produced track “Once Upon a Time” that dropped earlier this month, it seems like a Dipset takeover is back in full effect.
Backstage at the show, Juelz Santana revealed some news about a major collaboration. Captured by hip-hop personality ItsBizkit, Santana is on FaceTime with Drake talking about a future song with Lil Wayne. The conversation turns into talking possible joints from Drake for the guys to hop on. The Dips and Drizzy? Needless to say, this should sound pretty dope.
As if Awakenings’ US debut wasn’t already spectacular, two of the biggest names in techno have recently been added to the lineup to make this event one to remember. Victor Calderone and Nicole Moudaber will now be performing a rare b2b set to add to Awakenings’ impressive lineup. The first edition of the popular European techno event will now feature Calderone & Moudaber, Pan-Pot, Julia Govor b2b Kamran Sadeghi, and Adam Beyer b2b Ida Engberg.
Americans are really in-store for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Awakenings is a full sensory experience, as production value is just as important as the music itself. After the success of the Awakenings tent at Electric Zoo, there was no doubt that New York City would play host to the first standalone show in the US, as the city is one of the best places in the country for techno/underground music. Awakenings takes place on Sunday, Feburary 14 at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom. Tickets are currently onsale, but will sell out soon, so don’t wait!

Taking a lead from his album title Because the Internet, Childish Gambino launched a fake porn site to promote The Deep Web tour. Gambino tweeted, “for advanced tickets for my #thedeepwebtour ask abella about “tickets”: http://abella.xxx .”
abella.xxx is a fake sex chat site starring adult star Abella Anderson. When “Tickets” is typed into the chat query, a link to The Deep Web Tour website comes up. A similar theme was used in Gambino’s “3005” music video. In the visual, the actor/rapper and Anderson have a PG-13 sex chat.
The Deep Web Tour kicks off in London on February 4, and then hits the United States for stops including New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom and the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
For those wondering, “The Deep Web” also known as the so-called “dark web” is the hidden part of the Internet reserved for largely illegal activities like sex, guns and drugs. It was recently featured on the cover of Time.
