Cardi B Debuts at No. 1 With ‘Invasion of Privacy’

On April 6, Cardi B released her debut album, Invasion of Privacy. After a whirlwind press tour that included co-hosting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and performing on Saturday Night Live, the first week totals are in. Invasion of Privacy has pushed 255,000 equivalent album units in its first week, making it the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. The total is also the second-biggest week of 2018 behind Justin Timberlake's Man of the Woods (293,000 units).

Cardi’s dominance manifested itself in the streaming world as well, with Invasion of Privacy garnering 100 million streams worldwide in a week. That figure allowed Cardi B to eclipse Taylor Swift’s Apple Music record for the most worldwide streams of an album by a female artist in its first week, although the accomplishment comes under different circumstances.

“Since Swift’s album was not available on streaming services for its first three weeks of release, the comparison is not quite an equal one — Swift’s album sold 1.216 million copies in its first week, according to Nielsen Music,” a Variety report noted.

Cardi B now joins Eve, Foxy Brown, Nicki Minaj, and Lauryn Hill as the only female rappers to top the Billboard 200. Nicki is the only member of that group to do so more than once.

53 Percent of White People Still Approve of Trump, According to a Recent Poll

A new poll has revealed that Donald Trump somehow has the highest approval rating since his first 100 days in office. The Washington Post/ABC News poll has determined that 40 percent of respondents approve of whatever Trump is doing on the White House, while 56 percent disapprove of his performance.

However, 53 percent of all white respondents to this poll approve of how Trump is doing as president, up seven points from January's poll. In comparison, a wide majority of racial and ethnic minorities are on the other side of the coin, as 79 percent disapprove of the president's work in office.

The results come after another tumultuous week for the Trump administration. The office of Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen was raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who obtained records related to Stormy Daniels that includes relevant payments, the alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and more. The FBI also reportedly seized audio recordings of Stormy Daniels' lawyer at the time and Cohen.

Of the majority of Americans that live in rural parts of the country, 59 percent also approve of Trump's performance. As far as how Trump is handling the nation's economy, respondents were pretty split: 46 percent of respondents approve of how he is handling the economy and 48 percent do not.

The poll was conducted April 8-11 and recorded the responses of 1,002 adults. There is a 3.5 percentage-points margin of error.
